Black History Month

By Any Means Necessary

G.O.O.N.S. SZN 6 2019 first release January 15th!

Paying Homage to a few iconic figures that have influenced me in one way or another to Get Out Of Negative Situations. Most importantly they’ve influenced entire generations to do the same whether it be through activism, music, or by any means necessary. the first collection begins with ties to my fight against police brutality and the judicial system theme including mugshots of aforementioned celebrities and figures of great influence. The choice of using the mugshot photos was to emphasize that; yes they’ve been in trouble before, but they’ve also gotten out of those negative situations and on to do great things regardless of their circumstances.

Starting the collection with Tupac Shakur, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., and Snoop Dogg with more to come in the coming months. Also look forward to a few Black History month exclusives to drop next month as well.

Check out the first drop below!

The Kipp DC Valor Academy Public Charter School is a predominantly african american school not too far from my Capitol Heights neighborhood I grew up in. So when my good old friend from Morgan State, Whitney McArthur asked me to come back this year for her class' Black History Month Presentation, I jumped at the opportunity. Also this year I wanted to do something more hands-on. Teaching the students how to use a Heat press machine and make their own T-shirts to keep and perform in. Reciting a famous black poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar, "We Wear The Mask" which also seemed very fitting for a G.O.O.N.S. collaboration lol. Thank you to Kipp DC Schools for allowing me to come in and impact these kids lives. And Thank you again to Whitney for inviting me and providing the shirts.

We Wear the Mask

We wear the mask that grins and lies,

It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—

This debt we pay to human guile;

With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,

And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,

In counting all our tears and sighs?

Nay, let them only see us, while

       We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries

To thee from tortured souls arise.

We sing, but oh the clay is vile

Beneath our feet, and long the mile;

But let the world dream otherwise,

       We wear the mask!

This past week I spent some time with the KIPP DC Valor Academy Kids! Teaching them how to press their own Black Power Tees for their annual Black History Month Presentation on Thursday! Some of the funniest kids I’ve ever met and extremely smart for their ages. Thank you Whitney, for allowing me to come in and be apart of this every year Growing A New Generation (GANG) with GoonMilk! Footage Coming Soon...
